When Marble arrived at RSPCA ACT as a stray, it was immediately clear something was seriously wrong. Her eyes were swollen, painful, and barely visible. A thorough exam revealed a heartbreaking truth: Marble had been born with severely malformed eyelids and underdeveloped eyeballs, leaving her unable to blink or close her eyes properly. Despite her pain and limited eyesight, she purred constantly, leaning into every touch from our veterinary team.
Marble’s case was complex and confronting. Our vets sought multiple opinions, desperate for a way to save her vision. Thanks to supporters like you, Marble was able to see specialists who confirmed she had more sight than first thought and that her eyes could be saved. She underwent intricate reconstructive surgery, where tissue from inside her lip was used to rebuild her eyelids. The transformation was immediate. For the first time, Marble could blink, rest her eyes, and finally feel relief.
After months of healing in a loving foster home, Marble blossomed into a healthy, happy young cat and she was adopted into the caring home she truly deserved. Animals with complex needs like Marble rely on Guardian Angels to make stories like hers possible.
